Africa
Program Heartland
International specializes in the areas of
democracy and economic development programs in Eastern and Southern
Africa. While many countries in Africa are
rewriting their constitutions, changing to
multi-party systems and allowing opposition
groups to have greater voice in their own
governance, businesses are being privatized
with increasing opportunity for
entrepreneurship and new business
development. In efforts to support these
changes, Heartland international works with
individuals and associations on
strengthening business and NGO management
skills, legislative staff development, and
advancing civic education. The training
programs are conducted in the U.S. as well
as Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Namibia and
Lesotho.
