Karen A. Egerer - President Prior to founding Heartland International in 1989, Ms. Egerer served as a consultant on the staff of the Program for Peace and International Cooperation at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. She was also the program director at the Mid-America Committee for International Business and Government Cooperation, where she was responsible for designing and implementing programs that brought together heads of state and senior government officials with Committee members. She is currently a consultant to the international program development work at University of Illinois at Chicago, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jane Addams Conference, an international organization dedicated to promoting women's leadership in international affairs; and a member of the World Without War Council for the Midwest.
Richard M. Johnson - Senior Fellow Mr. Johnson has a distinguished academic career that includes serving as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a Senior Fellow of Heartland International, Mr. Johnson has led seminars on civic education on democracy and governance for political leaders, legislators, entrepreneurs, NGO leaders and journalists from Eastern and Southern Africa, Eastern and Central Europe, the NIS, Mexico and Asia. richard.gif
Paul Minnice - Webmaster / IT Manager Paul is a student at Haverford College. He is currently pursuing a tentative major in economics and a minor in East Asian Studies.
Carolyn O'Donnell - Program Coordinator Carolyn O’Donnell, Program Coordinator, is responsible for Heartland International’s programs in Central/Eastern Europe and the CIS countries. Additionally, she is in charge of the Community Connections Programs. Most recently, she coordinated a Community Connections program for NGO Professionals from Turkmenistan. Prior to her work at Heartland International, Carolyn taught English at a language school for International Students in Chicago, and spent a year teaching English in Lille, France. Carolyn earned her Bachelor of Arts in French and Political Science at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. She focused her studies on international politics, with a particular interest in the politics of the developing world.
